The vision for this hotel was developed in 2012, and the Hyatt Place Portland - Old Port opened to patrons in May 2014. It was the first ground-up development completed by East Brown Cow, and the new construction allowed emphasis on urban planning concepts that are important to the owner’s vision. The project sits on a 19,130 sq ft footprint formerly used as a surface parking lot and is a successful infill project desirable in any growing city. The hotel boasts spectacular view and a streetscape in the heart of the Old Port that conjoins the hotel lobby and the street activity with a glass curtain wall extending along the entire first floor of the building. Design practices were intentional to respect the differences found within Portland’s historic setting yet celebrate a new modern architecture. Materials also reflect our mission to promote energy conservation and reduce our carbon footprint through use of the latest modern mechanical systems (see special projects for more detail). Located at 433 Fore Street in the heart of the Old Port, the hotel stands seven stories high, is comprising of 130 rooms, and features an indoor pool, meeting room, café, restaurant and cocktail lounge. Hyatt Place Portland - Old Port is managed by Commonwealth Hotels.
