East Brown Cow is thrilled to share that Condé Nast Traveler has announced the results of its annual Readers’ Choice Awards with their hospitality offering, The Docent’s Collection, being recognized as the #5 Best Hotel in The Northeast.
Condé Nast Traveler received more than 757,000 survey responses from readers across the United States rating their travel experiences across the globe to offer a comprehensive look at the places they eagerly anticipate revisiting. The Readers’ Choice Awards, with their unparalleled legacy as the travel industry’s longest-running and most prestigious accolades from readers, remain the ultimate symbol and acknowledgment of excellence within the travel sector. The full list of winners can be found here.
“We are truly honored to have The Docent’s Collection recognized among the best hotels in the Northeast by Condé Nast Traveler readers,” said Tim Soley, President and CEO of East Brown Cow. “To be acknowledged by such a discerning global travel community reaffirms our vision of creating a distinct lodging experience that blends thoughtful design, authentic connection to the local community, and a sense of discovery in a destination where the landscape continues to evolve year after year.”
Providing a distinct approach to travel, The Docent’s Collection is a curated collection of private, luxury lofts designed for short-term and long-term stays in the heart of Portland’s Old Port neighborhood. Fusing historic architecture with modern touches, each loft is thoughtfully appointed with a fully equipped kitchen, spacious dining and living areas, custom furnishings, and locally inspired art to provide a home-away-from-home experience. Available in studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom options, residences cater to a range of guests – from families to groups, to couples, or solo travelers looking to unwind after a day of exploring all the destination has to offer, whether that’s a boating excursion or dining at a nationally recognized restaurant.
In August 2025, The Docent’s Collection continued its expansion efforts with the addition of 16 new lofts located at 178 Middle Street, or the “Boyd Block,” marking the opening of the brand’s third historic building in the Old Port, with another set to open this fall. Standout design features of the newest lofts include custom floor-to-ceiling paneled kitchens, marble countertops, patterned white oak flooring, curated furniture, local amenities, and contemporary artwork from Maine artists such as Shoshannah White, Anna Hepler, and Jocelyn Lee.
The 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards are published on Condé Nast Traveler’s website at cntraveler.com/rca and celebrated in the November issue.
